Scott Dempwolf is a PhD candidate at School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, University of Maryland, College Park. Scott recently joined the Innovate Kansas team and serves as subject matter expert on our advisory group. Scott’s research interests focus on the spatial, social and technological dimensions and dynamics of industrial development and their implications for planning, economic development and sustainability.
Scott is currently working on his dissertation which seeks to demonstrate that innovation networks play an important role in smaller industrial regions and that by explicitly considering network approaches, federal economic development policy would be more effective and equitable. His research uses both Social Network Analysis and traditional econometric methods to evaluate the impact of innovation networks on economic growth at the county level.
