“Taming the Cyborg Beast”
Innovative approaches will be shared for the development and deployment of low-cost 3D printed prosthetic devices for children with upper-limb reductions, including a prosthesis fitting methodology that can be performed at a distance.
Dr. Zuniga developed a 3D printed prosthetic hand for children named Cyborg Beast. The Cyborg Beast was named one of the best inventions of 2014 by MSN.com. Dr. Jorge M. Zuniga received a Master of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He is a member of The Association of Children’s Prosthetic-Orthotic Clinics and the American College of Sports Medicine. He is currently an assistant professor at Creighton University in the Department of Exercise Science and Pre Health Professions. Dr. Zuniga has authored and co-authored over 54 manuscripts published in peer reviewed scientific journals.
